  Senior Design Center

Need expert help developing a software or web application? Need your processes automated? Does your software research need a boost? Sponsoring a Senior Design Center Project Team may be the answer to your needs!

Our Senior Design Center was designed to benefit students as well as the business community through a capstone course (CSC 492) in which undergraduate computer science students work together in teams to complete industrially-sponsored projects.

As a project sponsor, you will be provided a team of 3-5 computer science seniors. Project assignments are based on student interests and skills. Each student typically invests a minimum of 10 hours each week on the project (including academic requirements).

Each semester, corporations from across the nation provide real world learning experiences for our students. You simply provide a problem statement and a mentor to work with the team, and we will provide talented students suited to the needs of your project. Under the direction of the Senior Design Center staff, our student teams follow a software development methodology, develop project documentation, and present progress reviews. This unique academic and experiential focus gives students the opportunity to enhance their communications, collaboration, project management, and leadership skills. This creates a true "win-win" situation for both or our sponsors and our students.

Our Super ePartners sponsor two Senior Design Center projects as a part of their annual donation. Other companies can sponsor a projects for a tax deductible donation of $5,000. Sponsorship slots fill up quickly, so reserve your space in advance. The next opportunity to sponsor a project is for the Fall 2004 semester. If interested, please contact us by July 30, 2004.

Please join us for our semester-ending Posters & Pies event on Tuesday, April 17th April 27, 2004 at 11 am in the Talley Student Center's Stewart Theater on NCSU's main campus. If you are considering sponsorship of a SDC project, this is the perfect opportunity to see what a project team can do for your business. If you plan to attend, please register online at http://www.csc.ncsu.edu/rsvp/posters-pies/ by Friday, April 23 so that we may properly plan for food & refreshments.
